In August 2001 I completed my eighteenth year
as Director of Admissions at Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario,
Canada. At Trinity in 1983, I founded the first Admissions Office in
Canada that integrated marketing, promotion and sales into the entire
recruitment program. During my years at Trinity I visited every CAIS*
school that had a boarding component and most day schools across Canada.
Through my international contacts, I created a student body in boarding
that was 50% global and 50% Canadian. Currently there are over 30 countries
represented at Trinity. I was also instrumental in the transition
of
Trinity from an all male institution to a co-ed school in 1991.
Prior to Trinity, I taught at Upper Canada College
in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from 1969 to 1983. At UCC I was Head of
the Geography Department, Resident Senior Boarding Housemaster and the
Varsity
Ice Hockey Coach. I received my permanent High School Teaching Certificate
after my first two years of teaching at Northview Heights Collegiate
of the North York Board of Education. As a High School student I attended
St. Andrews College in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. I then attended the
University
of Western Ontario (B.A. – Geography) and the University of Toronto
(B.Ed.).
Currently I am President of an association of United States
Admissions Officers and Educational Consultants called Round Table which
is made up of over 80 NAIS** schools and consultants. Previously I have
been a marketing consultant to HMC (Headmasters Conference) schools in
the United Kingdom. From 1990 to 1993 I was a Director at the USA Essex
Institute for Enrollment Planning.
